Team Workspaces
CodePeel supports shared GitHub App installations so developer teams can collaborate seamlessly across organization repositories. When a team upgrades to a Team Pro or Team Max plan, all team members share a unified review quota under a single invoice managed by the team owner.
How It Works
A Team Workspace connects your GitHub organization or account installation with your CodePeel team:
- Shared Workspace & Repositories: The installation owner invites developers by GitHub username or email. Once accepted, all members gain access to shared repositories on their dashboard.
- Unified Review Quota: Reviews generated on team PRs draw from the team's shared quota pool (
500 × seatsfor Team Pro,5,000 × seatsfor Team Max). Members do not need individual paid subscriptions while part of a team. - Automated PR Routing: CodePeel automatically routes PR reviews to the correct team quota based on the GitHub repository where the PR is opened.
Roles & Permissions
CodePeel defines two clear roles within each Team Workspace:
Owner
- Creation & Management: The user who installed the CodePeel GitHub App on a GitHub organization or personal account.
- Billing & Subscriptions: Manages seat counts, billing cycles, and plan upgrades (Team Pro / Team Max).
- Member Administration: Invites new members by email or GitHub username and can remove existing members.
- Billing Fallback: External contributors without a CodePeel account drawing reviews on team repos are covered under the team's shared quota.
- Ownership Transfer: Can transfer workspace ownership to any active team member at any time.
Member
- Shared Access: Receives automated AI reviews on PRs across team repositories.
- Quota Coverage: Completely covered under the team's shared pool (no personal subscription needed).
- Self-Management: Can voluntarily leave a team workspace at any time via the Leave Team action in the Team panel.
Inviting & Joining a Team
The Invite Flow
When a team owner invites a developer:
- Instant Notifications: The invited developer receives an in-app notification bell alert, an email invitation with direct accept links, and a browser Web Push notification.
- Global Accept Banner: A sticky Pending Invite Banner appears at the top of every page in the CodePeel app, allowing the developer to accept or decline from anywhere.
- Personal Subscription Handling: If an invited user currently holds a personal paid subscription (Pro or Max), accepting the team invite prompts for consent to cancel their personal subscription immediately so they are never double-billed.
Multiple Team Workspaces
Developers can be members of multiple Team Workspaces simultaneously (for example, a primary employer workspace and a client workspace):
- Workspace Selector: On the Team Workspace page, if you belong to multiple active team workspaces, a Select Team dropdown appears at the top right allowing you to inspect plans, review usage, and member lists for each workspace.
- Automatic PR Routing: You do not need to switch workspace tabs before opening a Pull Request. CodePeel automatically identifies the repository's GitHub installation and deducts from that specific team's quota.
- Clutter-Free Workspace Filtering: Solo personal free accounts are automatically hidden from the Team selector when active team workspaces exist, keeping your workspace view clean and focused.
Team Plans & Pricing
Teams can upgrade to a Team Pro or Team Max subscription directly from the Team page:
| Feature | Team Free | Team Pro | Team Max |
|---|---|---|---|
| Price | $0 | $9.99 / seat / mo ($8.33 billed annually) | $24.99 / seat / mo ($20.83 billed annually) |
| Shared Quota Pool | 30 / member / mo | 500 reviews × seat count | 5,000 reviews × seat count |
| Billing | Individual quotas | Single invoice managed by owner | Single invoice managed by owner |
| Auto-Fix PRs | No | Yes | Yes |
| Auto-Test Generation | No | Yes | Yes |
| Custom Security Rules | No | Yes | Yes |
| Premium AI Models | No | No | Yes |
Note: A "seat" represents any active member in the installation (owner + active members). Subscriptions scale dynamically as seats are added.
Seat Capacity & Overages
The Team dashboard displays real-time capacity indicators:
- At Capacity (Yellow): All purchased seats are currently filled. Click Add Seats to expand.
- Over Capacity (Red): Member count exceeds purchased seats. Unfunded members are temporarily locked from shared quota until additional seats are added.
Transferring Ownership
If a team owner leaves the organization or hands off administrative duties:
- Navigate to the Team page.
- Click Transfer Ownership.
- Select an active team member from the dropdown.
- Confirm the transfer. Billing management and owner privileges transfer immediately to the new owner.
